CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Austin Peay State University will cover tuition for some military spouses as the federal government shutdown continues.
In a Thursday announcement, the university said it was expanding on its previous commitment to cover tuition for military students enrolled in courses. The move comes as Senate Democrats failed to pass a bill to pay active-duty members of the military, according to reporting from News 2’s partner The Hill.

APSU added that the Department of War’s My Career Advancement Account program has experienced some delays in processing tuition approvals, meaning that some military spouses have been uncertain about their ability to continue their fall coursework.
“Austin Peay State University has always stood shoulder to shoulder with our military families,” APSU President Mike Licari said. “We will not allow our students’ educational progress to be derailed. Military spouses sacrifice alongside their service members, and we’re committed to ensuring they can continue building their futures.”…
