Clarksville City Council approves proposal for police oral drug testing equipment

The Clarksville City Council passed a proposal allowing the Clarksville Police Department to accept a federal grant to purchase oral drug testing equipment during traffic stops.

The proposal allows for the CPD to work with the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s Tennessee Highway Safety Office to use handheld devices that test saliva for drugs, including amphetamines, oxycodone, opiates, methamphetamine, cannabis and cocaine.
