Police: Springfield Man Allegedly Steals Multiple Vehicles in Cross-County Pursuit

SPRINGFIELD/COOPERTOWN, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield man is in custody after police say he allegedly stole multiple vehicles and led officers on cross county a chase that ended in Nashville Monday afternoon.

According to Coopertown Police Chief Tyler Haley, the suspect, now identified as 27-year-old Talerico Cogshell of Springfield, allegedly stole a Nissan Frontier from the Discount Tobacco store on Memorial Blvd in Springfield, the first call coming into 911 at 3:16 PM. Officers caught up with Cogshell at the Marathon gas station on Tom Austin Highway, but police say he allegedly fled on foot. At one point, Robertson County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to use a taser, which was ineffective, police said. Cogshell then allegedly jumped into a white dually pickup with a 16-foot trailer and drove toward Nashville.

The pursuit continued down Tom Austin Highway. The suspect allegedly abandoned the truck near Old Hickory Boulevard and fled into a wooded area. With the help of Metro Police and the THP, a perimeter was established, and the suspect was apprehended on Autumn Ridge Drive…
