CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Montgomery County officials are seeking nominations to fill a vacancy left by the passing of State Rep. Jeff Burkhart.
Burkhart, 63, died Friday, Nov. 14. He is survived by his daughter, his fiancée and her son, his siblings, and several nieces and nephews. He served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 2023 until his passing.

“Representative Burkhart was a dedicated public servant whose work left a lasting impact on our community. Jeff will be remembered for his leadership, commitment to the people he served, and dedication to improving the lives of Tennesseans,” Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden said. “As we mourn his loss, we must also ensure that the residents of District 75 continue to have representation at the state level. The nomination process will allow us to ensure the constituents are represented while honoring his legacy of service.”
Per state law, the Montgomery County now looks to fill the vacancy left in Tennessee House District 75. Whoever is nominated by the county commission will serve the remaining year left on Burkhart’s current term until the general election is held and a new representative is sworn in.
