NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The Clarksville Police Department is now one of the first law-enforcement agencies in Tennessee to deploy a new drug-testing device aimed at strengthening DUI investigations — but not everyone on the City Council is convinced it won’t create new problems.
The Sotoxa Oral Fluid Mobile System, provided through a grant partnership between the Tennessee Highway Safety Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, is a portable device that allows officers to test for drugs during traffic stops and crash scenes. Clarksville is one of just 24 agencies statewide to receive the equipment.
