Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver has signed an executive order declaring a state of Emergency in Oak Grove, after the city was unable to enter into a new franchise for the collection of solid waste.
That’s despite what the executive order describes as “constructive negotiations”, and Oak Grove’s current solid waste franchise is set to expire on December 7. City officials were unable to enter into a new franchise before December 8, and so Mayor Oliver issued the declaration, saying the collection of solid waste is essential to the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Oak Grove.
What the executive order allows is for the City of Oak Grove to enter into an interim contract with a provider to ensure continued solid waste collection until a new franchise is in place…
