THP: 1 dead, 6 injured following Montgomery County crash

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A multi-vehicle crash in Montgomery County Friday evening left a wrong-way driver dead and six people — including an infant and five teenagers — injured, officials said.

Tennessee Highway Patrol said the incident took place just before 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 at Dover Road and North Liberty Church Road.

According to authorities, a 2011 Honda Fit was traveling south on the wrong side of Dover Road while approaching the North Liberty Church Road intersection, where a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, a 2020 Nissan Kicks, and a 2016 Nissan Versa were stopped. The Honda reportedly ran the red light, sideswiped the Chevrolet, and hit the two Nissans before coming to rest.

The driver of the Honda — identified by THP as David Johnson, 56, of North Carolina — was not wearing a seatbelt and died from injuries sustained in the collision…
