Dexter Mines announces candidacy for sheriff of Montgomery County

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Veteran, law enforcement officer and pastor Dexter L. Mines has announced his candidacy for sheriff of Montgomery County.

Mines has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement, the military, ministry and public safety leadership. “I’ve dedicated my life to protecting and serving,” said Mines. “As sheriff, I’ll lead with transparency, accountability, and connection – building trust and ensuring every resident feels safe and respected.”

Mines’ career includes service with the Chattanooga Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (ESU Unit), and Greenbrier Police Department, where he served as a School Resource Officer. He later became assistant director of the Tennessee POST Commission, overseeing officer certification and training statewide, and an instructor at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy…
