Cheatham County gathers to honor residents, country music artist who fought against TVA

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Cheatham County community is coming together Monday night to honor those who helped stop the Tennessee Valley Authority’s proposed methane gas plant.

Among those being recognized is country artist John Rich.

“We have got century-old farms in that area, and they didn’t want to sell and leave,” Cheatham County Mayor Kerry McCarver said. “But again, in a million years they would’ve never looked across the street and go there is going to be a gas plant there with 14 stacks rising out of the ground, going up in the air and dealing with the other environmental impact.”
