1 hospitalized following duplex fire near downtown Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Springfield Fire Department may have saved a duplex from destruction on Tuesday night, according to Smokey Barn News.

Springfield firefighters responded to the 600 block of 10th Avenue East around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday. They arrived to find one half of a duplex on fire, and quickly worked to prevent the flames from spreading to the adjoining unit, Smokey Barn reported.

Springfield Fire told Smokey Barn that one person suffered smoke inhalation during the fire and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
