25 mph winds, unseasonable temperatures expected in Christian County ahead of storms

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Temperatures are expected to reach near record values on Thursday with highs almost reaching 70 degrees in Hopkinsville. The National Weather Service in Paducah says this spike is leading up to a cold front that will bring showers and thunderstorms across the region.

This time last year, data from the National Weather Service shows that January started with much colder temperatures. On Jan. 8, 2025, Hopkinsville had a high of 25 degrees and a low of 17. The average temperature for that entire month was 28 degrees. So far this year, highs have fluctuated between the upper 40s and low 60s.

Wind gusts may reach 30 mph during the day on Thursday, while overnight storms are likely in Christian County heading into Friday. Other areas in the region may be susceptible to damaging wind gusts and tornados.
