Christian County deputies warn residents about current phone scam

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam where callers are impersonating deputies in an attempt to solicit money.

In this particular scam, which has been reported by residents, scammers are contacting individuals and are claiming they either have jury duty violations, an active warrant or a pending arrest. The callers then demand payment to avoid being taken into custody, according to CCSO.

“The Christian County Sheriff’s Office will never call you requesting money, gift cards, or electronic payment to prevent arrest,” said a statement from CCSO. “We do not collect fines or fees over the phone.”…
