CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – As of Jan. 21, traffic on the southbound bridge at the 7.5-mile marker on I-169 will be restricted while it is reinforced by road crews. Single unit vehicles will be permitted as well as semi tractor trailers up to 36 tons.
A total of seven state highway bridges in multiple counties will have weight restrictions as a result of a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet re-evaluation of structures across the Commonwealth determined the need for repairs.
“Engineers performed federally required recalculations of load ratings to check for a particular type of stress, called shear stress, on support beams,” said a news release from KYTC. “The bridges susceptible to that stress must be posted with temporarily reduced weight limits until they can be reinforced.”…
