Dog rescued after falling 150 feet down bluff in Robertson County

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A team of first responders pulled off a miraculous rescue Friday after a dog fell nearly 150 feet down a bluff during extremely icy conditions.

The Robertson County Emergency Management Agency said they were called around 6:45 p.m. to assist the Adams Volunteer Fire Department with a rescue involving a dog that slid down a bank near Port Royal Road. The dog reportedly got caught on a small tree, which broke its fall and prevented it from falling further into the Red River.

A Coopertown Police Department drone helped locate the dog approximately 150 feet down from the bluff. A volunteer rescuer was lowered down the cliff face and guided to the dog by the drone. RCEMA said the dog showed a fading heat signature on the drone’s thermal camera, but it was found alive, just cold and tired.

A second volunteer was sent down to help retrieve the dog, and it was safely brought back up…
