Clarksville hosts opening celebration for Black History Month | PHOTOS

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Black History Month opening celebration was hosted at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville on Sunday.

The Clarksville Black History Month Committee organized the event around the theme “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” marking 100 years since national Black history observances began in 1926.

The focus of the ceremony was to recognize local African-American churches that have provided more than 100 years of service to the community. The program featured performances and presentations that honored important figures in Black history, both locally and across the country…
