An officer with the Portland Police Department has resigned following charges stemming from a domestic assault in Springfield.
According to the Springfield Police Department, who is leading the investigation, 30-year-old John Wesley Lepter was arrested last month for an incident that occurred within the city.
Based on the arrest report, on January 29 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Lepter caused physical contact with his stepson, grabbing him by the neck and pushing him against a wall in a manner that caused him to feel physical discomfort and threatened.
