HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With construction of the new Christian County High School expected to be completed by the summer, the interior is taking shape as the district moves to invest in finishes and technology within the $140 million budget.
A representative from Alliance Corporation gave the Christian County Board of Education a construction update. During the Feb. 19 board meeting, it was shared that the project is “progressing well,” with finishes going in at the main gym, auxiliary gym, and commons area. Window installation is still in progress in the band/choir/art section. The once vacant halls now have paint, ceiling tiles and lockers, with significant progress in main gym as paint and flooring progresses.
CCPS Director of Finance Jessica Darnell presented an updated budget report for construction, revealing that they are still on track to finish within the budget. The revised budget that was updated in November 2025 allocates just over $141 million to the project, which is up about ten million from the original.
As of Jan. 31, around $103 million has been spent on the project, with $3.7 million remaining in the contingency. Darnell said 90.94% of the project has been paid for at this time.
Purchase of student laptops for new CCHS
In line with the budget, during the meeting board members approved the purchase of 475 new Lenovo Chromebooks for student use at the new high school, totaling $156,731. This price tag includes shipping costs, screen protectors and licenses.
