Quick response by West Precinct officers Sunday night led to the arrest of Jose J. Abarca, 30, on several burglary related charges after he left the scene of a car crash in a stolen Ford Fusion and then attempted to break into multiple homes and vehicles on 33rd Avenue North before he was apprehended.
The Fusion, stolen on February 7 on Highway 70 South with the keys inside, wrecked into a power line before striking a concrete wall at the intersection of Charlotte Pike and 33rd Avenue North. The driver had left the scene, but a witness gave a complete suspect description to responding officers.
Shortly after the crash, dispatch began receiving calls from nearby homeowners on 33rd Avenue North who saw a suspect matching the description given at the scene of the car crash attempting to break into their homes and vehicles…
