The Henderson County Colonels will begin their quest for a second straight Region 2 championship on Wednesday night when they face Christian County in the opening round of the boys’ tournament at Madisonville‑North Hopkins High School. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
Henderson County enters the postseason as the defending region champion for the first time since 1999, and the program has never won back‑to‑back titles. Head coach Tyler Smithhart, now in his 13th season, said the focus is not on history or the bracket—but on the next 32 minutes.
“It’s always a blessing and an exciting time when you get to be in the regional tournament,” Smithhart said. “We never take that for granted. But none of the path matters. Nothing after Wednesday exists. We have to go earn Wednesday night.”
