Ashland City woman killed in wrong-way crash

“She carried this community on her five-foot-tall shoulders. This woman may have been a tiny little thing but to us she was 6 feet tall!” said Carman Janssen Arnett, capturing the sentiment of many mourning the loss of Carrie Anne McManama, 65, of Ashland City.

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department press release, McManama was driving the wrong way in the northbound lane of Robinson Road in Old Hickory on Monday, March 2. At the time, McManama was not far from Chopper’s Grill, the bar she owned and operated. McManama’s vehicle allegedly hit a semi also travelling northbound head-on. McNamana died at the scene, and the press release said there was no evidence of impairment on the part of the semi driver.

McNamana’s obituary said she was originally from Michigan and leaves behind her husband Tim, daughters Rachel Davenport, Sabrina Christ and Melissa Weaver, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Known to those closest to her as “Country,” McNamana was known both for her toughness and tenderness. Friends and regular customers said Chopper’s was known as much for its sense of family and generosity as it was for its menu, and that was because of McNamana’s kindness…
