Former Clarksville firefighters sue city for retaliation

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A group of five former Clarksville firefighters are suing the City of Clarksville for unlawful termination, arguing they were fired in retaliation for participating in a union campaign to push for higher wages.

The lawsuit, filed by the firefighters and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3180, names both the City of Clarksville and Clarksville Fire Chief Freddie Montgomery Jr. as defendants.

It stems from a campaign started in May of 2025 in which Clarksville firefighters, many of whom were union members, were asking the city council to raise their wages to keep up with other Tennessee fire departments…
