An alleged disagreement over a text message led to jail time for one Cheatham County resident last Thursday.
According to the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, David Jonathan Rang, 28, was taken into custody on March 26 in Ashland City after an alleged altercation with his girlfriend. Deputies were dispatched to the Twice Daily convenience store in Cedar Hill where Rang’s girlfriend waited, after reporting to deputies that she had been assaulted by Rang.
The girlfriend told deputies she observed Rang at their home texting another woman on his phone. When she confronted him, he allegedly threw his phone at her, but missed and hit the girlfriend’s daughter, striking her in the ribs. The girlfriend alleges Rang began choking her while making derogatory statements towards her. When Rang stopped, the girlfriend alleges she tried to leave with her daughter, but Rang blocked the door and tried to stop her from leaving…
