GOAT INVESTIGATION UPDATE: Charges Filed Over Disposal of Remains

ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS): If you recall, on April 10, 2026, Smokey Barn News reported on goats found dead in Coopertown, believed to have been killed by an unknown animal.

Now, in a development connected to that same property, the owner of the goats has been charged, not in relation to how the animals died, but over how one of the animals’ remains was handled afterward.

According to booking records and an affidavit from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Billy Eugene Brown Jr., 62, was arrested on a warrant alleging failure to properly dispose of a deceased animal. The charge stems from a complaint that a goat carcass was located near a property line. According to the affidavit, State officials ordered Brown to dispose of the carcass within 48 hours.
