Clarksville residents fight proposed townhome development near flood-prone neighborhood

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – People in a Clarksville neighborhood that flooded last year are pushing to stop a major development right next to their retaining pond.

The proposed Northeast Drive Villas development would build 102 multifamily units just up the hill from where some homes in the Meriwether Farms area are still waiting to be repaired after last April’s flood.

Residents said they are really concerned things will be worse in the next major storm if the city approves the proposal. They were shocked when they saw the plans that are up for a vote at the Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday…
