‘Believe in yourself’: Pinellas County elementary school teacher retires after 46 years

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (WFLA) — An elementary school is celebrating the retirement of a teacher who has spent nearly 50 years teaching the children of Pinellas County.

Susan Adams has been a beloved teacher at Lake St. George Elementary since the school opened its doors in 1988. Before that, she taught kindergarten at Westgate Elementary School after the principal hired her following an internship.

Pinellas County Schools said she was the last remaining original staff member from Lake St. George.

But Pinellas County was her home long before she started teaching. Adams said she spent her own K-12 years in the area and graduated from Gibbs High School…
