Robots move hospital beds in pilot program at Morton Plant Hospital

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — BayCare is taking a major step into the future of healthcare with a new robotic transport system now being piloted inside Morton Plant Hospital.

The system, called “ROVEX,” is an automated hospital bed and equipment transport robot designed to move stretchers and critical equipment throughout the hospital while reducing physical strain on healthcare workers.

Inside Morton Plant Hospital, the robot is already navigating hallways as part of a carefully monitored pilot program. Hospital leaders say the goal is not to replace workers, but to support them and allow more time for patient care.

“It’s really about augmenting or enhancing our team members,” said Dr. Christopher Bucciarelli. “It’s not about replacing their jobs and what they do on the day to day.”…
