A Michigan woman’s attempt to escape a Pennsylvania home ended in her murder, leading to a life sentence without parole plus an additional 25 to 80 years for a Pennsylvania man.
Jason Race, 45, of Wilkes-Barre, received his sentence on June 2 after pleading guilty on March 25 to first-degree murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault, abuse of a corpse, and related charges. As part of his plea agreement, Race waived his right to appeal and was credited with 815 days of time already served.
The case began in February 2023 when 38-year-old Nicole Cuevas—also referred to in court documents as Cuevas-Ingram—and Desiree Linnette, 45, traveled from Michigan to Wilkes-Barre.
