Clearwater’s Urban Leadership Coalition celebrates Juneteenth this weekend

CLEARWATER, Fla. — The Clearwater Urban Leadership Coalition is hosting Juneteenth events this weekend, including a painting celebration Friday night at Artz 4 Life Academy and a gospel event on Sunday at the North Greenwood Recreation Center.

On this day in 1865, the last African American slaves learned they were free in Galveston, Texas. Two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
