FAA: Three Dead following Clearwater Plane Crash

(Clearwater, FL) — Three people are dead after a plane crash in Pinellas County. An FAA preliminary report released Friday morning said the plane’s pilot and two people on the ground were killed.

The crash happened last night in Clearwater at Bayside Waters mobile home park on US 19. The Clearwater Fire and Rescue Department says a Beechcraft Bonanza V35 crashed into a home on Pagoda Drive.

Four homes caught fire, and Fire and Rescue Chief Scott Ehlers said there were several fatalities, including the pilot. “A mobile home doesn’t withstand much in the first place, so the aircraft pretty much demolished it,” Ehlers said.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash.
