Pinellas County to See Increased Police Presence on Superbowl Sunday

According to a February 10, 2024 press release from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), drivers can expect to see more deputies on the road for Superbowl Sunday.

Pinellas County deputies will be conducting a DUI saturation patrol on Sunday, February 11, 2024, between the hours of 6 pm and 3 am on Monday, February 12, 2024. Deputies will maintain a proactive profile on the highly traveled roadways of the county, looking out for potential impaired driving.

According to PCSO, saturation patrols are a part of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office’s ongoing commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving.

“The goal of saturation patrols is to educate people and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances,” PCSO states.

Most recent data from the Florida Department of Health reports 3,184 state-wide deaths from motor vehicle accidents in 2022, 129 of which happened in Pinellas County — an overall decrease from 2021, and the lowest they’ve been in the last 5 years.
