18-year-old charged after St. Pete Pride mural vandalized

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — An 18-year-old was arrested Monday after he allegedly did burnouts on a Pride mural in a St. Petersburg intersection, according to police.

Christian Maier, 18, was allegedly captured on video Man 22 “recklessly” leaving tire marks on the mural at the intersection of Central Avenue and 25th Street, police said.

Maier was charged with felony criminal mischief and racing on a street.

The mural was restored in time for Pride month festivities.

Police previously said the crime would be elevated from a misdemeanor to a felony due to it costing more than $1,000 to repair.
