Clearwater man named Silver strikes gold after $1M win on scratch-off ticket

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A Clearwater man named Silver struck gold when he won $1 million playing a $50 scratch-off game he bought at a gas station, according to the Florida Lottery.

Silver Gutierrez Figueredo, 53, won big on the $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE game and chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.

Figueredo purchased the ticket from Hercules Chevron, located at 1790 North Hercules Avenue in Clearwater. The retailers will receive a $2,000 bonus for the sale of the ticket.

The $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE scratch-off game features two top prizes of $1 million a year for life, along with 234 prizes of $1 million. According to the Florida Lottery, the game’s odds of winning are 1-in-4.5.

Since the games’ inception, it has generated nearly $62 billion in prizes and more than $19.24 billion for Florida’s Education Enhancement Trust Fund.
