Clearwater apartment tower to revert to affordable housing

CLEARWATER – The last time the residential tower at 801 Chestnut St. had a change of ownership, it was a blow to local housing advocates. For 50 years, the 208-unit Prospect Towers operated as affordable senior living in downtown Clearwater, home to the elderly on fixed incomes and many dependent on housing vouchers. Then in 2020, an investment group bought the property, eliminated age limits and raised rents to market rate, displacing all of the needy residents from what is now called The Indigo apartments.
