The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are doing their best offensively to stay afloat after Mike Evans and Chris Godwin’s injuries, as Baker Mayfield is down his two best weapons.
With tight end Cade Otten now Baker’s go-to guy, the Buccaneers have had to get creative on offense to ease the pressure on Baker Mayfield. However, he hasn’t helped himself.
In his last three games going into Monday, Mayfield has had multiple interceptions, which isn’t ideal for an offense that needs to protect a defense carrying injuries.
He didn’t have a pick in the 30-24 OT loss at the Chiefs … but maybe he didn’t have enough help, either.
The Bucs are now in a skid, having lost three straight to dip to 4-5. Tuesday is NFL trade deadline day. … and fans are all wondering the same thing: Is there a move in the offing that can help Mayfield and company stay afloat?
Injuries to the offense have been a major issue, of course. And there is now a gap between the Falcons and the Bucs in this division. We are hours away from finding out if a talent grab is seen as a solution.
