CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) – Sunsets at Pier 60 Festival set to return Wednesday in Clearwater Beach.
“We’ve been out here celebrating the sunsets for almost 30 years,” Organizer Lisa Chandler said.
Chandler said due to the recent storms, they had to postpone the fan-favorite festival for weeks.
“A lot of sad, a lot of debris, most of our world-famous sugar sand was in the roads,” Chandler describes of the damage. The nightly event features more than 100 artists and street performers.
All participants have been out of work since Helene hit.
“Most of these people, they live, work, and play here in Pinellas County. For the tourists, it’s become a beloved tradition to come out and watch a nightly sunset celebration, shop some of the local artisans, and catch a street performance. It’s all about the economic recovery here on Clearwater Beach,” Chandler said.
Pier 60 is closed and Chandler said there’s no timeline for the repairs as crews continue to work on lingering damage in the area.
