Shelter-in-place issued for residents near North 30th Street in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Shelter-in-place has been issued for residents within a four-block radius of East Bougainvillea Avenue and North 30th Street in Tampa due to a natural gas leak.

Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a natural gas leak at North 30th Street around 5:50 a.m.

According to TECO, they are working to assess and repair an 8-inch natural gas pipeline that was damaged by third-party construction equipment.

Repairs should take several hours, the area will be closed until further notice.

Due to the gas leak, the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office in North Tampa is temporarily closed. The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s office is advising customers to go online for services or visit another location.

The intersection of Linebaugh Avenue and 109th Street on 30th Street is currently closed.
