TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— More than 140 people were stopped on St. Patrick’s Day after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office conducted a “Lucky To Be Safe,” a joint-agency enforcement operation.
The initiative was aimed at removing impaired drivers from the roads to ensure a safe St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.

HCSO partnered with the Tampa Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol targeting dangerous driving behaviors.
The enforcement totals for operations “Lucky To Be Safe” are:
- Traffic stops: 142
- Citations: 9
- DUI arrests: 12
- Total weekend DUI arrests: 33
“Driving under the influence is a reckless and inexcusable decision that puts lives at risk, and we will take strong action against those who endanger others,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “If you drive impaired, you will be caught, you will be arrested, and you will face the consequences. Our deputies work tirelessly to keep these dangerous individuals off our roads, and we will continue to do whatever it takes to protect the people of Hillsborough County.”…
