TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A massive fire overtook a South Tampa apartment complex just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, leaving one person injured.
Tampa Fire Rescue responded to the two-alarm fire at the Bay Colony Apartments, located in the 5000 block of East Colonial Drive, to find heavy smoke and flames emerging from the second floor.

Firefighters entered the apartment but were soon evacuated as conditions deteriorated. After a sweep of the units to ensure no residents remained, they tackled the flames from the outside.
The photos shared by fire crews show the flames engulfing the two-story building, burning through the roof.
Fire crews said nearly 20 units were affected, and one person was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries…
