Local dog day care Paws ‘n’ Rec opens massive new indoor and outdoor yards for pups

Paws ‘n’ Rec St. Pete is doubling down on its reputation as the city’s premier local dog day care center, thanks to the addition of sprawling new indoor and outdoor climate-controlled yards. Paws ‘n’ Rec (4300 28th St. North) has become a fast favorite since opening last year, and the debut of these expanded play areas for pups cements their status as the go-to spot for day care and overnight stays.

We should clarify: these aren’t your average play areas for pups. Not only is the indoor portion of the yard climate-controlled (featuring industrial air shields that keep cool air inside), but Paws ‘n’ Rec also used a special “K9 Turf” to build the new yards. The turf is specifically designed for the comfort of dogs, utilizing a state-of-the-art drainage system that prevents the ground from getting too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. The game-changing turf also mimics real grass, reinforcing potty training behaviors at home.

Plus, you know your dogs are in good hands with the expert staff at Paws ‘n’ Rec, all of whom are trained in dog behavior and play yard safety. The team even divides the pups into groups based on size and temperament to make sure dogs of any personality can find their happiest place. Not that you ever have to be worried at Paws ‘n’ Rec anyway; all in-house dogs at the day care complete and pass behavioral evaluations showing their comfort with other dogs, helping the staff to provide a safe play environment.

With so many dogs on our team here at I Love the Burg, we’re also big fans of Paws ‘n’ Rec’s Solo Adventures – add-on enrichment sessions with multiple options that allow parents to curate their pup’s experience and enhance that home-away-from home feeling Paws ‘n’ Rec is so loved for…
