Clearwater condo owners moving back, one week after emergency evacuation

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — The residents of the South Beach III Condos on Clearwater’s Sand Key Beach are being allowed to return, one week after they were forced out of their homes with an emergency evacuation.

“It’s been pretty crazy, because from the very beginning, when we came downstairs from the evacuation, I didn’t know we were not going to be able to go back up, so of course, for the first few days I was wearing the same clothes,” said Scott May, who lives in the building.

May said he’s happy to be back and just a little apprehensive.

“I’m excited,” he said. “I think there will be a little bit of anxiety, staying there the first night, I’ll probably have one eye open, making sure everything is going to be okay.”…
