Whataburger prepares for a big Florida expansion

Whataburger is making a return to the Tampa Bay region with multiple locations set to debut in Lutz (25340 Sierra Center Blvd), Brandon (1426 W Brandon Blvd), and Largo. The Largo restaurant is slated to open at 10150 Ulmerton Road. While no opening timeline has been announced, a spokesperson with Whataburger announced earlier in the week that the new Whataburger hubs in Tampa Bay will begin opening in early 2026.

There’s also no telling if these locations will offer the 24/7 service other locations are known for.

Last August, Whataburger hosted an event at Lykes Gaslight Park in Lutz to announce its official return to the Tampa Bay region. The Texas-based burger chain is known for its made-to-order meals served in a casual setting. Since opening its first location in 1950, Whataburger has expanded to more than 1,000 restaurants across 15 states, generating annual sales of more than $3 billion.
