TARPON SPRINGS — The City Commission has reduced public comment time from four to three minutes and banned signs at meetings to make sessions more efficient and prevent lengthy deliberations that sometimes stretch past 11 p.m.
Under the new rules approved unanimously at a June 24 meeting, speakers may receive donated time from other attendees to extend their comments by up to two additional minutes, though donors forfeit their own speaking rights. Comments cannot exceed five minutes total.
