LARGO — Spc. Jaylin Perez, a 32-year-old U.S. Army soldier from Largo, died July 8 from severe electrical burns sustained while conducting cargo security inspections of U.S. military equipment moving by rail near Berlin, according to military officials.
Perez was found unresponsive by members of his unit while supporting logistics operations in Europe. German first responders evacuated him to the Accident Burn Hospital in Berlin, where he received treatment for severe electrical burns before succumbing to his injuries.
“Spc. Jaylin Perez was a proud and dedicated soldier who answered our nation’s call and served with distinction while mobilized,” said Maj. Gen.
