Pinellas County Jury Convicts Matthew Muratori for Stealing Life Savings in Shocking Elder Abuse Case
PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A former financial advisor, Matthew Vincent Muratori, has been found guilty on multiple felony counts for the financial exploitation and abuse of an elderly and disabled Floridian. The verdict, delivered by a Pinellas County jury, brings a measure of justice to a case that Attorney General James Uthmeier called a “betrayal.”
Muratori was convicted of Exploitation of an Elderly Adult, Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information, Grand Theft from a Person 65 Years of Age or Older, and Organized Scheme to Defraud. The conviction follows an investigation that revealed Muratori systematically stole over $150,000 from his victim.
“This wasn’t just theft—it was betrayal,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “This con artist abused his position of trust to drain a vulnerable Floridian’s life savings, and it’s unacceptable. This guilty verdict is a victory for our Statewide Prosecutors, the Office of Financial Regulation, and the people of Florida.”…
