More than 260 traffic stops made during first week of school in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — More than 260 traffic stops were conducted near all schools in the city of Clearwater during the first week of back-to-school.

“Friday marks the end of the first week of back to school, and we got through it safely, thanks to the hard work of our traffic enforcement team and other officers,” the Clearwater Police Department said in a post on Facebook.

During the first week of school, a total of 262 traffic stops were conducted, and 151 citations were issued.

The citations included:

  • 70 speeding tickets
  • 28 citations for speeding in a school zone
  • 26 citations for passing a stopped school bus
