NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – Gulf High School was placed on a temporary “controlled campus” status today after authorities received a report of a possible weapon on campus. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office (PSO) acted swiftly, locating a student who was found to be in possession of a handgun.
The incident began when the PSO received a tip, leading them to enact the controlled campus protocol out of an “abundance of caution.” This status restricts movement within the school to ensure the safety of students and staff while law enforcement investigates.
According to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, deputies quickly located the student in question and confirmed they had a handgun. Fortunately, there was no active threat to campus safety at any point.
