Dunedin family’s $17,000 car purchase ends in confusion, seizure

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Craig and Hannah Blanchard surprised their 16-year-old daughter in February with a 2017 Toyota RAV4 that they thought was perfect.

Photos and video from that day show the excitement of the teenager enjoying her first car. But seven months later, in late August, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office knocked on the door at the Blanchards’ home with unsettling news.

“They rang the doorbell,” Craig Blanchard said. “He says, you know why we’re here? And I said, no, I don’t know. And he goes, that’s all you have over there. And that is, it’s been stolen.”…
