10-Year-Old Boy Suffers Serious Burns in Clearwater House Fire, Flown to Tampa General Hospital

A 10-year-old boy in Clearwater suffered serious second-degree burns and was flown to Tampa General Hospital last night. The incident occurred after the child reportedly started a fire by piling clothes on a hot plate inside a bedroom at a residence on Russell Street, as reported by FOX 13 News.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue, along with the Clearwater Police Department, responded to the emergency just after 8 p.m. According to the preliminary information, the boy was quickly flown to receive medical attention in a bid to urgently save his life. The Department of Children and Families was notified about the incident, a protocol followed in such cases of domestic accidents involving minors.

The blaze, which was contained to the bedroom, did not spread to other parts of the home, a fortunate prevent to a potentially larger disaster. This detail was echoed by WFLA News Channel 8, which also followed up on the developing story. They confirmed that no further information was readily available on Wednesday night following the incident…
