TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Largo police arrested two parents accused of depriving their premature baby of medical care after birth.
Fatal Brewton crash leaves two dead, one injured
An arrest report alleges that on September 5, Nikko Villareal, 24, and Trinity Harbaugh, 21, did not seek medical care after she gave birth to the 34-week-old boy in breech position.
The boy, estimated to have been 9 days old, was rushed to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency in October. The pair was accused of not providing prenatal care to the baby and lying to police about a midwife being present during the home birth.
Police said the pair lied about Harbaugh’s name and medical history due to her outstanding arrest warrant in Idaho. They also said the parents never obtained a birth certificate or medical insurance for the child because they were trying to keep up the lie about Harbaugh’s identity.
