Uncle of slain Tampa DJ speaks after arrest made: ‘Stepping out of your car can’t be considered a deadly threat’

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — New details about the roadway dispute that took the life of a well-known DJ have been released in court documents.

Joel Moreno Cobo, 31, appeared virtually in court Friday afternoon. He’s accused of shooting and killing Dedrick Sykes, also known as DJ ShyGuy. The judge said this was a dangerous crime, and in Florida dangerous crimes are deemed capital felonies. It could mean a life sentence for the suspect.

Dedrick Sykes’ family said they want to see the process work itself out. About a week went by before the public knew who was involved in the fatal shooting.
